このたび、YAMADA Book Publishingより第5弾となる写真集『NERO Big Shot Hair Polaroids』を刊行いたします。
本作を手がけるのは、ニューヨークを拠点に活動する日本人ヘアスタイリスト、NEROさん。
東京生まれのNEROさんは、2014年にパリへ移住し、その後ニューヨークへ拠点を移し、ファッションやエディトリアルの分野で国際的に活動しています。
ブックデザインを手がけたのは、ニューヨークを拠点とするクリエイティブスタジオ、STUDIO 191 NY。
1996年の設立以来、歴史あるラグジュアリーブランドから独立系企業まで、ファッション、出版、カルチャーなど幅広い分野の国内外のクライアントと協働してきました。
そんなNEROさんとSTUDIO 191 NYとYBPのコラボレートから生まれた『NERO Big Shot Hair Polaroids』。
作品を世界へ届けたい――。
YAMADA Book Publishingが大切にしてきた想いが、またひとつ形になりました。
今回はニューヨークを皮切りに、海外先行で販売・イベントをスタートします。
その後、日本国内でも販売・イベントを予定しています。
私たちにとっても、新たな場所へ作品を届ける大きな一歩となる一冊です。

【Artist Statement】
NERO Big Shot Hair Polaroids started during the pandemic, when I began making wigs, wearing them myself, and having my wife photograph me with Polaroid. I didn’t really know where it was going, and I never started it with the idea of making a book. I just kept doing it.
As a hairstylist, I’ve always been interested in how much hair can change the way a person looks and feels. With these images, I wanted to turn that idea toward myself and see how many different characters I could become.
Over time, the Polaroids became something very personal to me. Each one is unique, and together they became a record of experimentation, transformation, humor, and the simple pleasure of continuing to create.
The book includes an essay by New York based critic and curator Bob Nickas and is designed by STUDIO 191 NY.
